Hello Beauties,

Hope all our American readers enjoyed their thanksgiving. It's amazing that a country sets a day to be thankful. Awesome!

So a comment I had yesterday from one reader spurred me to post this video of Sera2544. This is the same video that moved me to go natural. After all, all I had grown for the past 10 years of relaxing my hair was shoulder length. It was then no big deal for me to go natural to see how my hair will go for the next 10 years God willing.

I have been natural for almost 2 years now and my hair is past my collar bone. So if I hadn't trimmed my hair so often, it would have been longer but no fears because black hair does grow!

If you are thinking you are an African so your hair can't grow please think again because Sera2544 whose video is below is a Sierra Leonese. Believe that no matter the type of black hair you have, it grows.

Check her out and be inspired because it really inspired me.

Hope you are inspired!

How To Mini Twists Tutorial "Natural Hair"

Hello Beauties,

Hope this post finds you well. Since some of us are on the mini twists challenge, I decided to share with you 2 videos on mini twists. In these videos Naptural85 and ThinkandGrowChick show how they do their mini twists.

The differences between the 2 videos:

*I like the way she twists tightly.

*Using Flax seed gel or Shea Butter alone is better.

*Since my hair is very curly like Naptural85, I prefer to braid my hair like ThinkandGrowChick does hers.

*If your scalp itches, I wouldn't recommend Eco Styler Gel.

Let's grow our hair by mini twisting. Happy twisting!!

Hope this helped.

Hello Beauties,

Hope this post finds you very well. There is one simple recipe I would like to share with you my dear beauties who have dry to normal skin types.

The ingredients in this recipe will make your face or skin soft, clean and moisturized. They are also very easy to find.

These are Ground Almond and Shea Butter. I would recommend you blend the almonds yourself as most ground nuts might contain other nuts.

Ingredients: Ground Almond and Shea Butter.

Melt the Shea Butter a bit and use about 1 tablespoon.

Mix both the ingredients together and apply in a circular motion to your face for about 2 minutes.

Leave it n for another 2 minutes and wash off with warm water followed by cold water.

That's it, You are done!

Your face will feel so soft and clean. Do this regularly to gradually get rid of the dryness.

Hope this helped!

Hello beauties,

Hope this post finds you well. As you all know I'm still in my mini twists(3weeks old) but yesterday I found out my hair was really dry. In fact my hair dried out because I hadn't moisturized it well since monday.

This is what I did...

1. I soaked a teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in boiling water and crushed it with a hand blender and left it overnight.

The pink book is my journal.

2. The next day which is today, I strained it with a sieve and muslin cloth.

Second Straining.

3. This brought out the extract which I applied to my hair and covered it with a plastic cap for 40mins.

4. I rinsed out the extract and dried my hair with a t-shirt(will write on how to dry the hair safely later).

5. When my hair was a bit damp not dry, I applied some oil to my scalp and Shea butter to my hair.

Please Note: Fenugreek is a conditioner so there was no need using a conditioner again but you can use a conditioner if you want all the fenugreek's residue out of the hair.

My hair is very soft now and stretched out. I love the end results.

Fenugreek(methi) is indeed a bum!!

Have You Tried Fenugreek On Your Twists? Please Share Your Experience With Us.

You Can Get Fenugreek seeds or powder from local india shops or online.

Hope this helped.

Hello beauties,

I am coming your way once again with a very interesting topic. Just to let you know that I will be adding more skin care posts from now on. We have talked hair enough isn't it? Lol.

Well the topics seems interesting because the two raw materials involved are very known by people in so many ways. So baking soda and rice flour, which is best?

By the way baking soda is the same as bicarbonate of soda and rice flour is rice flour.
To begin with, micro dermabrasion is a term used for removing dead and dull skin. There is actually a machine that does the work when you visit a spa but you can also do it at home. Though I would recommend that going to a spa once a while for facials and massages really helps to refresh the body, you could also perform the simple ones at home.

Both baking soda and rice flour can be used as exfoliating ingredients but you need to know the type of skin you have. I prefer to use rice flour to exfoliate because I have dry skin but using baking soda plus lemon juice will be ideal for oily to combination skin type. This is because the acidity of the lemon juice will help the skin to fight breakouts by tightening your skin pores. Large pored skin brings about breakouts and blemishes on the skin.

So both baking soda and rice flour are all ideal for removing dead skin from the face, you only need to take into consideration your skin type before using them.

The facial scrub below is ideal for oily to combination skin type.

The purpose of this scrub is to remove dead skin and add a beautiful glow to your face.

*You need 2 teaspoons of  rice flour
* A pinch of baking soda
*1 teaspoon lemon juice

Mix the ingredients together and apply to your face in a circular motion for 2 mins.

Leave it on your face to dry and then rinse your face with warm water.

For final rinse use cold water(not so cold to get chills. lol).

For Dry Skin, use just rice flour and water and follow same procedure.

Have You Tried These Ingredients Before, Please Share Your Experience With Us.

Hope this helped

Hello beauties,

Hope you are all well by God's grace. It is amazing indeed to see each and everyday because not everyone gets it like we do.

Today I would want to review on a the best sleep cap I have used ever. So, I have been using the normal sleep caps most of us buy from shops and though they help a bit, in no time they become rough.
In my quest for a very good satin sleep cap, I came across a website which does handmade combs and sleep caps. I got the link from one YouTuber who was using this amazing comb which I will review later.

My Experience So Far:
The best thing is my hair feels moisturized and soft after waking up.
It does not come off at night no matter how much loosen the strings.

I have slept without a satin sleep cap for 22 months of going natural. This is because I cannot tie my head to sleep. For the past two weeks now, I have been sleeping with this sleep cap and it amazes me.

The difference between this sleep cap and others are:
1. It is real satin and its inside is very smooth and somehow patterned on the outside.
2. The strings on this is adjustable and you can choose to tie it or just pull them and they will do the job.

I would say it is affordable because thinking about the amount of cheap satin caps you will buy, it is worth in investing in a good one.

Some Pictures of the Sleep Cap:

Just the top of the cap has elastic.
The inner of the sleep cap.

Hello my lovely beauties,

Hope this post finds you very well.  I posted about my mini twists yesterday and shared how I would love to have my hair trimmed.

Why Trim?:
In my opinion I believe when one has grown their hair for a long period without trimming, the tips of the hair becomes very weak thus there is the need to trim those hairs.

Trimming can also come into our regimen when we see splits ends on the hair.

There are people like me who love to see their hair leveled so in this case one can trim the hair but not regularly though.

The reason why I trimmed my hair today was because one of my hair that fell had a split end and prior to that I was contemplating of leveling my hair by trimming it.

Please note that it is not advisable to have your hair trimmed at a certain time regularly. Only trim when it's necessary to do so. When you trim your hair regularly, you wouldn't see any growth because the new growth at the end of the month comes to replace it.

Here are some pictures on my hair trim:

These bands are the ones with no metal.

Sectioned my hair

Hold each twist and cut

One side trimmed and the other not trimmed.

Final hair collection.

Hope this helped

Hello beauties,

Hope this post finds you all well.

The weather is really cold off late so I have decided to put in mini twists for the months of November, December and January. This I tell you is easier said than done especially when I am the type that washes my hair every blessed week. Whoa!

Let's hope I am able to handle four weeks. Lol. At the moment, my twists are 2 weeks old and they look okay since I moisturize them every day with my hair spritz, sheabeutimia leave-in conditioner and my lovely sheabeutimia growth serum made with herbs.

During this four weeks, I will be cutting about 1/2 an inch of my hair off. This is because I love it when my hair is level and I found this split end the other day.

As you all know though I am all about growing my hair, my optimum goal is to achieve a long healthy hair.

Here are some pictures: The twists really shrunk due to me using aloe vera juice spritz to twist.

Thumbs up to my sis in-law who did the twists.

Hello Beauties,

Hope this post finds you well. I promised to write on the hair benefits of fenugreek yesterday.
As I said yesterday, there are so many benefits of fenugreek when it comes to natural medicines and re-growing the hair, fighting dandruff, scalp conditions, hair loss and more.

* Hair Growth: When it comes to growing the hair with methi as the Indians call it, the whole plant is useful but the fenugreek seeds is ideal in treating follicular problems. This is because the seeds of the fenugreek plant contains hormone that enhances hair growth though it's herbs has a great source of protein which helps to strengthen and rebuild hair follicles, the seeds are very effective. As we all know protein enriched diets helps to alleviate hair loss and encourage hair growth so it's not strange if the fenugreek plant is able to help with hair loss and balding.

* Deriving Curlier Hair: I would testify to this because the first time I used the fenugreek powder, I was shocked how much mucilage it has. The hair experiences a curlier pattern because the proteins in the fenugreek is able to penetrate the hair shaft and allow moisture to fill the hair thereby altering its form. This helps reduce breakage and drying of the hair.

* Dandruff: Dandruff is an inflammation that causes the scalp to flake, irritate and become red. It is very uncomforting when one has this condition. The remedy for this condition is to apply a paste of the fenugreek powder or boiled seeds to the scalp overnight. The oils in the fenugreek will nourish the scalp. I would recommend doing this regularly for a month.

 * Conditioning of the Hair: Fenugreek has high level of lecithin which is a natural emulsifier and since the seeds of the plant has so much mucilage when crushed, it smooths and shines the hair. Chemicals that claim to condition and give shine to the hair cannot be compared to natural raw materials that condition and give shine to the hair.

If you desire to have a thicker, healthier and beautiful hair, here are some options you can try.

Option 1:
Soak the seeds in boiling water for several hours.
Crush the seeds into a thick paste and massage into the scalp.

Option 2:
Grind the seeds into powder or purchase the powder from a store.
Add some warm water until its mixed well. Let it sit for several hours
Apply to the scalp and hair by smoothing the hair.

Do this continuously until you achieve the desired results.

Hope this helps!

fenugreek seeds
Hello Beauties,

Hope this post finds you well. Today I am going to share something very dear to me; Ayurvedic Treatment.
My love for ayurvedic and herbal treatments began when my hair was a teenie weenie afro.
As you all know, I started with Amla Powder, Brahmi Powder, Shikakai, Soap Nuts and others.
Now, I have experienced more ayurvedic and foreign herbs and I just would love to share some with you.
Fenugreek with the scientific name ‘Trigonella foenum-graecum’ is a plant with small round leaves which is cultivated worldwide. The plant contains protein, calcium, phosphorus, iron and carbohydrates.

Fenugreek is used as an herb which is from its dried or fresh leaves, as a spice gotten from the seeds and as a vegetable from its fresh leaves or sprouts.
I read extensively about fenugreek for some months and decided to try it, am so much in love with it.

Hair Benefits:
Fenugreek has been used as a medicinal plant and beauty treatment for re-growing hair, fighting dandruff and scalp conditions for many years in the Indian sub-continent and now the Western world is also benefitting from it. I will talk about this in detail in my next post.

* 1Tbs of the fenugreek powder to 11/2 cups of water. Trust me when I say 1tbs because I used 2tbs and leaving it for just 1 hour made it double in size.

*Mix it to form a paste

*Let it sit overnight covered and apply to your hair the next day.

*Cover the hair with a plastic cap and keep it in for about 30-45 or more.

My Experience:
The paste is full of mucilage and has so much slip. My hair became so manageable after the application that I told myself I will definitely try it again. If you are using the fenugreek to treat hair loss or to grow your hair, it is advisable to use it continuously for a month. After using it regularly for 4 consecutive times, I will add it to my ayurvedic powders one after the other to see the outcome.

Please note: When doing ayurvedic treatments, oil your hair properly for 2 hours or more(even overnight) before applying the powders since most of the powders can be strong. Fenugreek is an exception but I oiled my hair and scalp before using it.
One thing is you need patience when washing the fenugreek out of your hair because it has so much mucilage.

The ideal oils to oil your hair with are Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Almond Oil or Avocado Oil.

Have You Tried Fenugreek? Share Your Experience With Us.

Hope this helped.
